Each week Borderless Magazine highlights some of the best things to do in Chicago’s vibrant immigrant communities.

Various dates through September 2 – Reserve your free(!) tickets to “Zulema: A Musical Journey from Chiapas,” which tells the story of a young woman who travels from Mexico to Chicago. The hour-long show, presented by Goodman Theatre, features regional music and dance by Somes de México Ensemble.

Aug. 14 – Don’t miss this unique combination of Vietnamese coffee and a seafood boil at New Orleans Seafood (1046 ½ W. Argyle), where restaurant HAIBAYÔ and coffee company Fat Milk are hosting a collaborative pop-up! Check out murals by Asian American artists between bites.

Aug. 17, 24, 31 – Come meet our engagement reporter Diane Bou Khalil at Boost the Block, a mutual aid and public art project presented by Axis Lab and the Vietnamese Association of Illinois, on Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. Boost the Block sets up at 1101 w. Argyle St. every Tuesday at 1 p.m. this month. Get free food, masks, hygiene items and even art!
